The Crown: The Jewel of Jealousy-Part One

The Bible reveals some of the finest and authentic jewels that are in our crowns: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, kindness, self-control, faithfulness, goodness, and gentleness. (Galatians 5:22-23)

All these aspects are fine jewels. Yet, life has a way of dressing up the counterfeits as being worth more than what we have been given. A common counterfeit jewel life dresses up is jealousy. Jealousy is one of the most known counterfeit jewels being exchanged all over the world by many who can’t see the true priceless value of the jewels already placed in their own unique crown.

At some point or another we have encountered someone with a jewel of jealousy. The ones who smile in your face but talk behind your back, the ones who secretly or even openly wish for your demise, the ones who hate you for no plausible reason, the ones who think you don’t deserve the life you have, the ones with that superiority complex. These are just to name a few of the characteristics of those who have the jealousy jewel.

I have come to realize that people who are jealous of myself or others aren’t truly happy with themselves; they don’t love themselves. They grapple with feelings of inadequacy and fear. Why is this? It’s because they don’t think they are good enough for themselves let alone this life. They are blind to their own worth.

Yet, how do I know this to be true?
