Show Me Your Scars: A Letter for Thomas
I am sure as you are reading this life has, in some way shape or form, beaten you down; left you with some scars and bruises. But the thing to keep in mind is the fact that you have those scars and bruises. They mean that you didn’t run or hide but showed up to the battle and won inevitably because you are in fact still breathing; here; on this Earth; alive.
In this world, we associate scars or scarring with imperfection and ugliness; something in need of rectification or covering. But I caution you today that you need not cover your scars or bruises but show them. Own them proudly! Wear them with honor. Why, you may ask?
Because you have a “Thomas” you have either crossed paths with or have yet to cross paths with who will not believe in the power or possibility of healing and restoration unless he/she sees your scars. Scars are not just to connote physical wounding but an intangible wound that has healed. Your life story/letter is filled with scars. The low moments are scars, those moments where your back was up against the wall are a scar. But you have healed. Your scars let “Thomas” know that life is worth living and there is prosperity, healing and fullness of joy after pain.
Share your scars beloved. For your Thomas is in dire need to see it so he/she can keep going to discover that life is worth living. There is life after pain!
